What is Sea Glass

Sea glass is a natural gem made by the ocean! It starts as sharp shards of glass thrown into the sea, which are then tumbled and polished by waves and sand over time. Decades—or even centuries—of natural erosion transform discarded glass bottles and debris into smooth, colorful jewels.

I will never know the exact origin of the glass I find. Most of it comes from human activities, like the disposal of glass bottles and other debris. Some pieces may even come from shipwrecks, where shattered cargo has been shaped by the sea over time.

It’s important to remember that sea glass is a product of human waste—a reminder of the impact we have on the environment. By turning these pieces into beautiful jewelry, it’s a contribution—however big or small—to cleaning our beaches and oceans.

Sea glass I use for Ocean Refund

At Ocean Refund, I take great pride in offering my customers high-quality, authentic sea glass jewelry. Every piece of sea glass I use is 100% natural, hand-picked from beaches and coves, and completely untreated.

I know there are many imitations of sea glass on the market, but I want to assure you that what I offer is the real thing. Each piece in my collection is carefully selected for its unique shape, color, and texture—ensuring that you receive a one-of-a-kind treasure.

I personally collect sea glass from the beaches where it has been naturally tumbled by the waves for years. All pieces are cleaned with water—some are left frosted, while others are polished to shine using only locally produced olive oil and a soft cloth.

When you purchase jewelry from Ocean Refund, you can trust that it is made with real, ocean-found materials. I only use what I collect myself—I never buy sea glass from retailers or use artificial alternatives.

The sea glass and deserted shells are turned into earrings and other beautiful jewellery

Sea glass is naturally unique, with its own character and charm. No two pieces are ever the same. Some have smooth curves, others have tiny bubbles or frosted textures—each shaped by the ocean’s endless movement.

To prepare sea glass for jewelry, I hand-drill each piece underwater using diamond drill bits. Any fragments that don’t become necklaces, bracelets, or earrings are collected and placed for glass recycling.

Thank you for choosing Ocean Refund. I hope you find a piece that speaks to you and connects you to the beauty of the ocean!
